Step 1 – Position Your Car in a Safe Position Place your car in a safe position, then use a car jack to raise the front of the vehicle. Step 2 – Prepare the Transaxle for Removal You must remove the transaxle from the car to access the clutch. To make removing the transaxle easier, disconnect the clutch cable and the positive battery cable. After unbolting one of the engine mounts, separate the transaxle from the engine. To do this, remove the bolts around the flywheel housing and then gently push the transaxle away from the engine. If the transaxle doesn’t move when you first push it, push a little harder until the pressure plate is exposed.
Step 4 – Clutch Removal and Flywheel Repair
To remove the damaged clutch, release the pressure plate and then slide the clutch disc off. After removing the clutch, inspect the flywheel for signs of wear. If the flywheel has hot spots, you may need to remove it completely and repair it. Damage. You can replace the flywheel with a new one if the old one is no longer usable. Remove dirt, grime, and debris from the crankshaft flange before replacing the flywheel. Ensure the flywheel bolts are properly tightened to the specified torque.

To replace the transaxle, align the transaxle with the splined hole in the clutch disc. Gently move the transaxle forward until the input shaft slides into the splined hole in the clutch disc. Once the transaxle is in place, replace the bolts you removed earlier. Be sure to tighten the bolts securely to avoid any problems. Step 7 – Release the Jack and Lower Your VehicleAfter securing all the bolts on the engine mount and around the transaxle, remove the jack stands and gently release the jack to lower the front of your vehicle.
